Frequency Hints and Tips

Controller Tips
* Use the shoulder buttons: L1, R1, R2.
* Get in a comfortable seating position.
* Relax your wrists and fingers.
* Tap the buttons lightly as opposed to mashing them in.
* Avoid excessive motion when taping a button. (How little can you move your fingers and still hit the notes?)
* Look ahead/above of the Activator so you can start to see larger patterns.
* Take breaks. Get up and walk around.

Scoring Tips
* Go for perfect games. Map a course through the level that makes it possible to keep your multiplier up for the entire level. You want to avoid having to jump around, skipping over already captured tracks.
* Don't chase power ups. Let them come to you. It is more important to keep your multiplier up. If you bounce all over the level collecting powerups, you renege on tip #1.
* Use the Multiplier powerup wisely. Try to get the most out of it. You want to have it for the most "expensive" tracks. Also, if you enter a section in which there aren't 8 bars of music, don't waste it; you may want to save it for a full section.
* If you have a Multiplier powerup, deploy it before you pick up another powerup. As soon as you pick up a new powerup, it overwrites anything you have so, you may as grab the extra points.
* Freestyle whenever you can. It gives you points, and if you don't, you lose your multiplier.
* When to use Autocatcher powerup:
- If you miss a gem, you may be able to save your multiplier by deploying an Autocatcher.
- If you are in a section that has only 1 or 2 light tracks available, if the total amount of points scored grabbing the notes is less than two bars of freestyling, deploy the Autocatcher and freestyle your way to super-freQdom.

* Remember that the game is structured in 2 bar phrases. If you catch a one bar phrase, you have the next bar to position yourself. You don't need to catch the very next bar. You don't want to be left with that one bar as the last bar of the section. You will lose your multiplier. Ways around this dilemma:
- If you have an Autocatcher powerup, you are fine. Grab everything you can as quickly as you can, deploy the Autocatcher powerup on the last bar and freestyle for one bar.
- If you are in a 16 bar section (as there are in Ignition) you don't have to worry about having a single bar at the end. You may as well capture everything as quickly as possible and have an extra freestyle time.

FREQUENCY Remix Tips
* Be patient. Making good remixes takes a long time.
* Get to know the individual buttons. Different buttons produce different sounds. You have a better chance of creating interesting sound patterns if you know the tools you have to work with.
* The best remixes are those that have some song structure. So if you find a pattern that you like, don't be afraid to repeat it.
* It is easy to fall into a "run-on sentence" style of remix where sections aren't really connected to each other. To avoid this, have a strategy. You can go section by section. Let the song cycle all the way around in order to gain perspective and context, or you can work track by track the whole song through. Create a drum track for the whole song. Then build, track by track, until your remix is complete.
* Remixes that have cool, interesting, repetitive patterns work best when you want to play them as games.
* Remixes that have a ton of random notes tend to not sound so great.
* Remixes that are sparse, yet thoughtfully done tend to sound pretty good.

FREQUENCY Multiplayer Tips
* If you find an "expensive" track, stay on it. In Multiplayer mode, you grab tracks one bar at a time so you can stay on a good track for an entire section (or 2 or 3).
* As in solo mode, your multiplier is very important. If you can, try to avoid blowing it.
* Intelligent use of the powerups is the key to success at Multiplayer games. That is where strategy becomes involved. Offensive use of the powerups is recommended.
* Autocatcher: Sneak behind other players and use the autocatcher to "steal" their track. This will blow their streak and upset them tremendously. Keep in mind that the autocatcher catches 4 bars of music which means that can use those 4 bars to re-position yourself without losing your multiplier.
* Crippler: The crippler is designed to ruin streaks and wreak general havoc on opposing players. Remember that if you get crippled, you can still grab notes by pressing the buttons at the correct time. Difficult, but very possible.
* Bumper: Use the bumper to get onto the coveted, expensive tracks. Deploy it when you are behind other players and you want to get in front of them. You can also use it to jump in and steal other players powerups. It is also critical at the end of games when most of the tracks have been grabbed.
* Neutralizer: The neutralizer is critical at the end of games when there aren't a lot of free tracks. Deploy it on tracks that other players have grabbed. Not only does it give you tracks to play on but it also subtracts points from the player getting neutralized.
* Freestyler: The freestyler allows a player to open the axe or scratch tracks for 8 bars. You can freestyle to get extra points if there aren't any open tracks left. Also, you can freestyle to save your multiplier if you get crippled or if you blow a streak. Here is a secret tip for crazy kool freestyle action: Deploy the freestyler and try to capture the adjacent bars and freestyle at the same time. Very difficult, but very possible.
* Be aware of where other players are. If you see them trying to get powerups, you can try to stop them.
