Net / Multi Tips
In Net games, your streak multiplier caps out at x4 which means that you can rack up huge points by keeping your streak alive. Here are some pointers that should help you get your streak on:
- Use the shoulder buttons. Players who use their thumb on the dpad can't compete with players who use the shoulder buttons.
- Unlike Frequency, you can't sit on one track for more than two bars. You'll activate tracks by catching two bar phrases just like in the solo game.
- Keep an eye on the bars ahead of you. You want to "plan" your route a couple of bars in advance.
- Powerups can be used as offensive weapons, but they can also be used to keep your streak going.
- The Autoblaster powerup gives you a one bar cushion to get somewhere else and continue your streak.
- The Freestyler is affected by your streak multiplier. Try deploying it when your at a max streak and rack up tons o' points.
Solo Tips
- Don't sweat it if you're having trouble unlocking the bonus songs - keep moving through the campaign. When you're finished you can go back and play for points. It is easier to go back and get high scores after you've unlocked powerups and beefed up your skills. It is recommended that you get the scores to unlock the bonus songs before you try and go for the next difficulty level.
- Play the tutorials. They are really helpful if you are having issues. It isn't wimpy - it's smart.
- Give practice mode a shot if you are having trouble with a particular track. You don't want to spend time learning a track while your energy is draining.
- Figure out which viewpoint works best for you. Use the Select button in game to toggle back and forth between 1st and 3rd person view.
- High scores in Amplitude are all about getting your streak on.
- Keep your streak alive by moving to the next track as soon as you complete one.
- Play the Advanced Concepts tutorial to get more details.
- Some pro tips:
- Always look ahead. You want to know where you're going when you finish blasting your track.
- Find your rhythm. You want to always be moving straight left to right (or right to left). You make it hard on yourself if you have to keep jumping over blasted tracks. Look for stretches of track where you can blast consecutive phrases without having empty bars mess up your pattern.
- The Freestyler powerup can reset the tracks if you find yourself with a messed up route.
- The Autoblaster powerup can save a streak if you miss a note capsule.
- The streak multiplier applies to all scoring. This means that if you deploy the Freestlyer while you have a streak going, your freestyling points will be multiplied.
- The Score Doubler powerup can be used with your streak mulitplier. To rack up mad points, get a x8 streak going, deploy a Score Doubler and then get and deploy a Freestyler. This is a rare case, but if you're lucky, you can wind up with crazy point combinations.
